About this event
In this workshop Clare will share her experience and love of working from life, where nature is the teacher and inspiration is easy to find. We will draw inspiration from some of the Masters of Still Life Painting, both past and present; from their ability to convey a sense of depth, volume and texture through composition.
Participants will gain more of an appreciation for capturing beauty in ordinary things. Our focus will be on compositions of one to three everyday objects like a simple vase, a single flower, fruit and vegetable, etc. Clare will demonstrate how to draw monochromatic still life objects following a four-step process so you can approach your artwork with a clear, logical progression. You will learn how to gauge values, create thumbnails and work from dark to light.
Participants will do a few exercises to become familiar with the process, how to see, and their chosen tools (charcoal, pencil, pastel pencils, etc) before setting up a composition to create a larger piece of work.
