'Unexpected' - Nicola Oliver
Nicola has always been a bowerbird when it came to shiny objects. I remember being little and going to a fair and being able to choose a dolly on a cane. I made my selection to the horror of my grandmother and mother. She was dressed in the most exquisite piece of black lame` with gold and emerald. They saw only black but I saw the way that fabric glittered and shone... I was hooked and nothing could change my mind.
Out of necessity, I taught myself to sew rhythmic gymnastics costumes for my daughter, and then when Covid affected me I found my absolute love of creating anything from anything, trying things that might not have made the most usual choice, hence ,"Unexpected".
Dresses from books, water bottles, wood... The unexpected was born.
